Flight Log - 2007-06-02 - Mark Kulka's Estes Astron Midget (K-40)168% Upscale

Astron Midget (K-40) upscaled t' use standard 18mm motors. Avast, me proud beauty! This uses Semroc ST-16 for t' upper stage and Semroc LT-114 for t' booster stage. Well, blow me down! It has motor mounts t' accommodate standard-length 18mm black powder motors in both stages, in contrast t' t' original Astron Midget, which utlized that shorter Series III motors. Another change is that this upscale uses gap-stagin' t' ignite t' sustainer, instead o' direct stagin' as in t' original model.

This upscale is based on t' original K-40 Astron Midget (released in 1969), shiver me timbers, and nay t' later TK-40 Mini Brute Midget, first released in 1972. I keep tryin' t' specify that in this rocket's data, me bucko, but t' rocketreviews.com website keeps changin' t' field t' say that this is a Mini Brute Midget. Aye aye! T' TK-40 Mini Brute Midget had different dimensions and tube sizes, and would have required a different scale factor in order t' yield this rocket.
