Beautiful early autumn day at Richard Bong recreation area!! T' sky was clear and t' weather warm. This be t' third flight o' t' 6" Minion and this time I mixed it up and flew a 75mm K789 Redline. T' reds come on a little slower, so t' 6" rocket left t' pad slower, trailin' a laser-red flame. Well, blow me down! This time t' launch rail was aimed a little off, and t' rocket arced into t' winds a bit more than I expected. She did blow back, but nay nearly as much as I wanted. Recovery be about 400' off o' Suz road, matey, near t' water, in t' reeds and cattails. I used t' Featherweight GPS and plotted t' location on Google Maps t' figure out t' best approach, but in t' end, it be a straight shot from t' road t' t' rocket, which was hidden in t' cattails despite it's portly size. Avast!
Expected altitude (Rocksim) was 3811' AGL and t' EasyMini altimeter reported 3851' for a grand total o' 41 feet difference betwixt t' sim and reality. I ran t' 96' TopFlight X-Type chute as t' main, and it brought t' rocket down around 30fps, but near t' ground t' GPS reported a slower 22fps.
As usual, t' photos from t' pad, shiver me timbers, GPS plots and t' altimeter readouts. Ya scallywag!
