T' Aero-Hi: This is a cute little flier from Estes usin' 13mm T engines. It is a pseudo-scale soundin' rocket design. This normally uses a tiny 8-inch parachute but was converted t' a streamer for a bit, then later converted back into a parachute recovery which I find easier t' pack. Begad! I actually have two o' these, one painted green and this one red. Arrr! One unique feature o' this kit be t' simulated conduit up t' side o' t' body tube, arrr, made from a balsa strip.
This rocket be later given my "Iris" modification, me bucko, which extends t' body tube about 5 inches above t' streamer/parachute bay, arrr, and allows for a payload with an Altimeter One or Two to measure altitudes. Ya scallywag! It's a shame I "ruined" it by addin' t' payload, she was a cute little bird. Arrr! (I can always remove t' payload.) I like t' send this, or the EAC Viper rocket up first on launch days, me bucko, it's a good and economical way t' get an idea how t' winds are blowin' without riskin' a lost rocket. As a result, this has flown many times. Well, blow me down! (Iris is named after t' Greek god o' t' rainbow. She is a messenger o' t' gods, linkin' t' gods with humanity.) This rocket has flown as high as 282 feet with t' A motor, arrr, which is higher than t' Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in NC, me bucko, t' tallest lighthouse in t' USA.

This second flight o' t' day was a test t' compare t' A3 with t' A10 motor. Under calm winds, t' A3 reached a usual height o' 256 feet and a max speed o' 76 mph. Ahoy! T' motor burned for 0.9 seconds and generated a maximum o' 7.5Gs (the average G force was 3.8), and then t' Aero-Hi coasted for another 3.5 seconds while turnin' into t' winds aloft. After apogee, while still movin' fast, it lost only 12 feet in 1/10 o' a second before ejection. It descended under a streamer at a fast 21 mph, and landed nearby after a total flight time o' 12.6 seconds. All was well. Although t' acceration was much less than t' A10 motor, it reached a very similar maximum speed and altitude. Blimey! T' plastic streamer works well with this model, although for some odd reason this same type gave me constant problems with me Astron Sprint. Go figure.
