This was our tribute t' t' historic mission o' Apollo 11 back in 1969. This was humankinds first venture t' put humans on another world. Well, blow me down! T' launch took place in Sandringham, a suburb o' Melbourne, me bucko, Australia on September 20 2009, we had originally planned for a weekend in July, close t' t' actual anniversary date, ya bilge rat, but weather did nay cooperate.sound familiar? T' rocket is a 1:100 scale Estes model usin' a D12-3 engine. I scratch built a mobile launch platform and launch umbilical tower t' add some realism. Well, blow me down! In addition, we played t' original countdown audio synchronised with t' T-0 ignition. Arrr! T' second launch was delayed due t' a last moment gust o' wind, but we kept goin' after adjustin' t' tower and rocket. Well, blow me down! We had two launches that day and on t' second launch a spider kept on crawlin' onto t' rocket, we made sure he was off and out o' blast range when we finally launched. Ahoy! Update: I download t' ppt version o' t' LUT paper model (jleslie48.com enlarged t' match t' 1:100 scale o' t' Estes Saturn V and printed out and glued over a heavy cardboard tower. Aye aye! T' base is chipboard. Avast! I modified t' rocket t' have t' launch rod run internally, looks much better.
