Flight Log - 2015-08-29 - Rick Barnes's Astron Ranger BT80

I built this upscale Astron Ranger as a fraternal twin t' me similarly upscaled Big Bertha.  I tried t' keep this as true t' t' Ranger as possible, shiver me timbers, though t' BT80 sized elliptical cone isn't quite long enough.  Still, it separates in t' middle (with dual-chute recovery) with t' same proportions as t' original, shiver me timbers, and has a triple 24mm cluster t' lift it.  Rocksim tells me that 3x E12-8 motors will lift it nearly 1800 feet, but it'll be easier t' track on 3x C11-5s, at a little under 500'.  T' design uses a baffle t' protect t' chutes, a balsa version o' t' -80BB cone and 1/8" papered balsa fins with epoxy fillets.  Finished in t' late Damon-style yellow/black stripe with red cone and a white fin graphics, shiver me timbers, thanks t' Excelsior decals.
