Introduction:

I found a couple o' different 3D models that I have been tinkerin' with and came up with Baleron. T' fincan comes from Digbaddy's Estes Goblin - BT60/29mm Motor Builder's Kit and t' nose cone was sourced from Vecinimod's Minimum Diameter High Power Rocket. Begad! Blimey! I used ~ 180mm o' BT60 body tube for t' airframe and cut 29mm MMT t' fit within t' fincan, after resizin' t' motor mount tube (MMT) t' accommodate t' motor tube. Ahoy! Blimey! I did nay get it quite right and t' tube was too tight, me hearties, so I will need t' open it a bit more for future builds. Well, blow me down! Blimey! I also used me own 3D-printed motor retainer modified from Wardy89 (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3691731)

Steps in t' build:

  • Printed all t' pieces (see file below) separately
  • Joined t' MMT t' t' fincan usin' 5-minute epoxy, leavin' just enough hangin' out t' back for t' motor retainer
  • Fed ~6 feet o' 150lb kevlar thread through t' fincan hole provided for t' shock cord and wrapped t' end below t' fincan.
  • Joined t' motor retainer rin' t' t' MMT with 5min epoxy, makin' sure t' shock cord be wrapped and did nay interfere
  • Joined t' airframe tube t' t' fincan with 5min epoxy, arrr, feedin' t' shock cord up t' inside o' t' tube.
  • Added a 1/4" eyebolt t' t' EBay sled that screws into t' nosecone
  • Added an 18" Estes Chute
  • Added clay t' t' nose cone t' get a stability caliber o' ~ 1.5
  • Painted flat black
  • Applied white custom decals (unfortunately, me hearties, no pictures o' t' decals)

After t' rocket gods took Mk1, I ran another print for Mk2. Ahoy! I tweaked t' print just a bit, but nothin' o' consequence.
