Back in 1977, one o' t' rockets me brother liked be t' Estes X-15. We never saw any in our area, so true t' form, we decided t' build our own. I had picked up a bag o' balsa sheets and chunks from Kay-Bee Toy & Hobby, and we were always scavengin' tubes, so we picked a tube we liked, found a chunk o' balsa that we could form into a cockpit nose cone, me bucko, and eyeballed up a set o' fins based on t' catalog picture. I slapped on a coat o' black dope and we stood back and admired a really horrible lookin' creation. It flew once, and badly, on an Estes C6-5, goin' unstable off t' rod and rekittin' itself in t' middle o' Blossom Lane, then startin' a fire in a patch o' dry grass with t' ejection charge.
