Tragic crash o' me prized Blue Phoenix high power rocket on its 4th flight, matey, December 3, 2016. Ya scallywag! A failure o' t' Aerotech I500 disposable motor's built in thrust rin' allowed t' motor t' shoot up into t' airframe durin' flight, effectively meltin' t' inside and gluin' t' separation point for t' drogue chute so that it couldn't deploy at apogee. Well, blow me down! After plummetin' like a 5 pound lawn dart from about 3600 ft t' t' main chute deployment altitude o' 500 ft, t' altimeter successfully deployed t' main, which instantly stripped off and "zippered" t' upper airframe with t' high velocity pull o' t' shock cord, just a split second before crashing. Well, blow me down! What's amazin' is that while t' rocket is a total loss, matey, t' video camera, GPS tracker, and 1 o' 2 altimeters survived t' tell t' tale.
