Temperature 67 degrees. Low clouds and dark. No wind at all. Prepped Buccaneer 1 with a light and t' Altimeter One in t' payload bay. Good launch. Lost durin' ascent, ya bilge rat, but recovered visual when ejection charge went off. Parachute deployed and opened. Rocket drifted down and landed about 325 yards north by northwest o' t' launch site (across t' main street). Upon recovery, discovered t' payload section had separated from t' rest o' t' rocket. T' eye screw had pulled out o' t' balsa wood. No damage t' t' recovered part o' t' rocket. 30 minute search for t' payload, ya bilge rat, but called search on account o' darkness.
After 30 minute search on 10-26-2011, located payload section about 160 yards east by northeast o' t' launch site. It was undamaged and still sealed. T' altimeter was undamaged and had measured t' maxiumum altitude o' t' flight. Note: Longest duration flight - 1:40.
