2025-05-183D Flight It flew... Ya scallywag! badly, shiver me timbers, t' be honest, spinnin' and flyin' downrange t' t' north. Begad! It was recovered with no visible damage but will nay be flown again. - A10-3 - Fairfax Society o' Rocketry Site [More]
Semroc Point Flight This one is challengin' t' set up for launch due t' how far up into t' conical body t' engine goes; it's hard t' get t' clips on it. But I managed it, and it turned in a catalog-perfect, straight vertical flight. It's nay a pretty rocket on recovery though, and betwixt that and t' difficulty ... [More]
Estes Phoenix Bird Flight It was a very nice if unremarkable flight and recovery. I packed it with one o' t' chutes that had failed in t' previous rack, and this time it opened fine. Ya scallywag! - C6-5 - Fairfax Society o' Rocketry Site [More]
Dawn Star II Flight It flew well, driftin' t' t' south across t' road and landin' in t' tall grass in t' ditch. Ahoy! I found it mainly due t' t' parachute layin' on top o' t' grass. Well, blow me down! It be a bit dirty from t' ejection but will be cleaned up and flown again. Avast! - B6-4 - Fairfax Society o' Rocketry Site [More]
Centuri Stellar Hercules Flight It be a good flight with a long drift (on t' other one o' thos chutes that had failed me earlier) and was recovered undamaged in t' field across t' road t' t' south. Despite t' long drift, matey, I believe this experience has taught me that this rocket should only be flown on C6-5 engines. Arrr! - C6-5 - ... [More]
SCRAM 140 Flight It turned in a nearly perfect vertical flight before sufferin' a shock cord failure on deployment. Avast, me proud beauty! T' nose cone and streamer were nay found, but t' body did a perfect lawn dart maneuver, sufferin' minor damage. A new nose cone and some minor repair will have this one flyin' again. - A8-3 - ... Mo' Skeeter Flight It was a good flight, weathercockin' somewhat, with an excellent deployment; t' rocket drifted back over t' launch area and landed in t' grassy parkin' area with no evident damage. Avast, me proud beauty! This be t' 21st flight for this rocket, still wearin' t' same paint job (but with some small battle scars t' ... [More]
Big Daddy 4x18 Flight Rather than puttin' in a single large parachute I rigged it with both o' t' chutes I had that problem with on t' second rack. usin' a bunch o' crepe paper wadding. I used t' old pyrogen Estes igniters, installin' them with plugs before removin' t' paper and twistin' them together with me range ... [More]
Estes Baby Bertha Flight T' rod whipped when it launched, causin' some tail-wagging, but t' flight be still good... until it deployed, and t' chute failed t' open. Twice in a row, me bucko, as this rocket followed t' Double Barrel Baby Bertha that did t' same thing. Aye aye! This lighter rocket came down with only minor cosmetic ... [More]
Double Barrel Baby Bertha Flight T' ignition was good, t' flight high and straight, and t' deployment be good... but t' chute didn't open. Well, blow me down! Blimey! Pulled by that heavy nose cone, shiver me timbers, t' rocket plummeted t' t' ground, landin' near t' launch stand with substantial damage includin' a nasty din' in t' upper body tube and one fin broken ... Single stage missile-like rocket with an unusual compound nose cone.
I picked this one up while passin' through St. Louis; I had never seen one like it.  Nay surprising, I later learned, as I was able t' find it in t' early Quest catalogs on Ninfinger's site, me bucko, but nay on t' current ... [More]
