Beautiful weather at t' QCRC field. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! Slightly breezy but sunny and very clear. This flight was on t' new-ish L1940x motor which did nay disappoint. Arrr! Blimey! T' 5" Goblin left t' pad with authority and coasted t' an apogee o' 8,630' (averaged betwixt t' RRC3 and Stratologger altimeters). This flight I ran a 96" Top Flight chute t' slow t' descent slightly more than with t' Recon chute I used before, and t' decent rate was defiantly slower as reported by GPS.
T' main was set t' 900' and it inflated at 850' accordin' t' t' GPS and RRC3, but it felt a lot lower than that watchin' t' flight. Still, me bucko, havin' t' main fully open at 850' reduced t' drift a lot. Also, this was t' new Ultra-X-Type chute from Top Flight Recovery. T' cool thin' about t' X-Type is it collapses when it's on t' ground which limits how much t' rocket gets dragged in t' field. (My next flight be nay t' X-Type chute and got dragged quite a bit on t' ground...) I'll be usin' t' X-Type chutes a lot more now that I've tried it out.
T' L1940x is probably t' highest thrust Aerotech motor that can be fitted in t' Goblin. T' 75/3840 casin' be t' largest size I can reasonably fit without movin' t' AV Bay.
