Years ago, shiver me timbers, I bought an Eggspress, but wasn't able t' finish it when someone stepped on it accidentally (smashed t' tube, cracked t' nosecone).  Not all that long ago, I had an opportunity t' get a secondhand nosecone, I had an extra BT-56 body tube, ya bilge rat, and an unpainted scrap 2" OD body tube from a messed up 1/35 scale Mercury Redstone and decided t' clone t' kit. Avast!  I'm usin' plans (from oldrocketplans.com) which included t' fin templates. Avast, me proud beauty!  

I've often found that payload rockets, like this, tended t' be a tad underpowered for me tastes. Ahoy!  So, ya bilge rat, I opted t' build this as an "E" powered model.  You can always use an adapter t' brin' a rocket down in power, ya bilge rat, but after it's built, it's a lot harder t' adapt one t' use a more powerful engine. Avast!  Before makin' t' modification, I created a simulation in Open Rocket (which created t' attached image) t' verify that it would be stable.

Buildin' t' clone otherwise was straightforward.  Besides t' different motor mount, t' only other non-standard changes be paperin' t' fins, and usin'  3/16" launch lugs.  I've used BSI's Epoxy for t' fillets. Aye aye!  At this time, t' only assembly remainin' is t' attach t' shock cord. Begad!  Paint will have t' wait until t' weather improves.  Replicas o'  the decals were purchased from Excelsior Rocketry.

I've since managed t' acquire t' other version o' this same rocket (Estes Scrambler (No. Begad! 2072)) in kit form. Begad!  I plan on buildin' that one t' same as this one, arrr, complete with "E" engine capabilities.
