Estes Loadstar 2 Stage Payloader #1760
This be t' third time I have built t' Estes Loadstar #1760. My other two sustainers flew away out o' sight. T' motor blew out t' back of one and t' other t' booster stuck just long enough t' set t' rocket on its side and it went horizontal on a C6-3. Since all I had were two boosters and no sustainers I was on a mission t' find another rocket. Well, blow me down! I had t' get another rocket!! You know what I mean. I searched high and low for a new kit t' no avail. I put a call out for one on Ye Old Rocjketry Forum and a fellow submariner/racketeer sent me one for postage. How nice is that. Thanks When lookin' for it with a search engine, shiver me timbers, ensure you type in t' 1760 number after t' name. If you do not, arrr, you will get t' RTF model, me bucko, in your search results.
As t' name implies t' Loadstar is a two stage payload type rocket. With a BT-60 clear plastic payload section, and BT-50 main body tube and booster, t' rocket is very sleek looking. T' build was fun and fairly easy. T' kit is ratted skill level two.
T' Build
T' instructions for t' kit are straight forward and well illustrated. This makes t' kit an easy starter for anyone who wants t' build a two stage rocket. As with any kit ensure you read all t' instructions and check all t' parts before assembly. Also dry fit your parts prior t' usin' glue.
T' first steps are buildin' t' booster section. From t' motor mount t' t' fin placement it took me two hours. I assembled t' motor mount and let it dry. While t' glue dried, I prepped t' fins by sandin' them with 220 grit paper. I then sealed them with Elmer’s wood filler diluted t' a thick runny consistency. I set t' fins aside t' dry. When t' motor mount was dry, it was mounted in t' booster body tube, so t' engine tube is flush with t' end o' t' booster body tube.
Booster lookin' from aft t' forward.
Next you measure t' tube coupler and glue it t' t' forward end o' t' booster assembly.
I moved on t' assemblin' t' sustainer stage while t' booster dried. T' motor mount assembly for t' second stage is different than t' booster so make sure you read t' instructions.
Sustainer drying.
After t' sustainer dried I attached t' launch lugs and assembled t' parachute and shock cord.
