This be t' be me L1 cert flight. Took advantage o' t' Cesaroni Certification promotion and got a free 2-grain motor case with t' H152BS motor I purchased. Mike Caplinger was overseein' me certification. As I was insertin' t' rocket motor into t' MMT (usin' maskin' tape as retention) it be slidin' in with some difficulty and then suddenly broke free and slid in fairly easily. That did nay seem right, but when I tried t' rotate it and pull it back out, shiver me timbers, it would nay budge. With a naggin' feelin' that t' motor be nay seated well, me hearties, but unable t' budge it and get it out, we headed out t' t' launch pad and set up for flight. After Mike announced t' launch and counted down I hit t' launch button and barely looked up in time t' see t' Norad rip off t' launch rod faster than I be expecting. It was a beautifully, arrr, stable, straight flight with parachute ejection just past apogee (9 second delay). I had a perfect deployment and fortunately light winds with that big 36" chute. As it was t' rocket came down about 250-300 yards west o' t' launch pad. I was thrilled with t' flight and elated t' know I just earned me L1 Cert (all thoughts o' a loose motor casin' out o' me head). As we came up t' t' rocket, I was lookin' at t' exterior lookin' for any landin' damage and I could see Mike was more concerned with t' business end. Yes, it was a bit o' a downer t' see that t' motor casin' was missin' and that I just failed me first L1 cert try. Well, next month maybe. At least t' rocket performed well!
