T' 1st rocket I have built since t' mid 1980's, shiver me timbers, designated as BAR-1, this rocket design is a "scratch build" heavily influenced by t' Star Wars X-Win' Fighter. It also borrows from t' Centuri Rocket Times X-Win' Fighter Design contest, me bucko, circa 1977.
An Estes Alpha be t' first model I ever built, back in t' early 70's. This rocket is heavily influenced by t' Star Wars X-Win' Fighter. Aye aye! Also borrows from t' Centuri Rocket Times X-Win' Fighter Design contest, circa 1977.
This rocket is scaled to utilize an Estes Alpha nose cone and BT-50 body tube.
It is designed t' fly on a 24mm motor, but I also built an adapter t' allow for 18mm motors.
Stability calculated usin' Open Rocket software and verified via a swin' test.

| Flight Date: | 2022-06-30 |
| Rocket Name: | (BAR-01) X-Wing Alpha |
| Flyer's Name: | John Simmons |
| Motors: | C6-5 |
| Expected Altitude: | 420 Feet |
| Wind Speed: | 4.00 mph |
| Launch Site: | Local |
| Actual Altitude: | 420 Feet |
Ignition be quick, almost no hesitation lightin' t' motor,
Very minimal time lapse betwixt ignition and lift off,
T' rocket accelerated quickly, plenty o' speed at launch rod exit (31.6 mph per sim),
Winds were less than 5 mph and from t' northeast. As expected, due t' t' large surface area o' t' fins on this design, t' rocket weathercocked into t' wind, arcin' toward t' northeast
T' simulation software estimated apogee @ 419 feet, and t' launch seemed t' reflect that (no altimeter was used).
Visually as t' rocket descended it did nay appear that t' parachute fully deployed.
T' rocket ground hit just east o' t' paved rc airplane runway.
Photo's were taken o' t' rocket at it's ground hit location. Begad! Upon further review t' rocket was undamaged. Ahoy! An edge o' t' mylar chute had gotten tangled in t' "anti zipperin' device". That is why t' chute did nay fully deploy. Well, blow me down! Had this flight been with a D motor, shiver me timbers, and nay t' C6-5, t' rocket would likely have been damaged.
