Flight Log - 2011-04-09 - K Sonesen's Steppin' Razor (Tube Fin)

This is a Larry Brand design that I assembled from parts contained in a LOC Precision Lil Nuke kit and an extra length o' 54mm tubing.  LOC 54 mm tubin' is motor mount grade so it's a bit thicker than most.  I also ordered a 6" long payload bay kit t' complete t' build.

Larry's article on t' original Auracle 54 is sketchy on details and so I relied on t' photgraphs accompanyin' t' article.  When all be said and done, I'm happy with t' way it turned out.  In retrospect, I will never again attempt a tube fin with tapered ends.

Flight Date: 2011-04-09

Flyer's Name: K Sonesen
Motors: G40-7W
Expected Altitude: 1,000 Feet
Wind Speed: 5.00 mph

I'd never flown on a G40 before and was very pleased with t' performance.  T' boost was vigorous and straight.  My choice o' a 30" Topflight parachute came back and bit me as t' Thermal God (Hung) carried me rocket for almost a mile before touchin' down.
