Flight Log - 2015-06-07 - Ken E. Coyote's Pro Series II Nike Smoke

Nice rocket! Blimey! Stock build, lots o' flyin' fun. Ahoy! Blimey! :)

Flight Date: 2015-06-07
Rocket Name: Pro Series II Nike Smoke
Kit Name: Estes - Nike Smoke {Kit} (009704) [2012-]
Flyer's Name: Ken E. Coyote
Motors: F42-8
Expected Altitude: 700 Feet
Wind Speed: 5.00 mph
Launch Site: Pine Island NY (Metra Rocket Club)
Actual Altitude: 1,000 Feet

F44-8W used - First flight o' "Smokey".  Motor was surprisingly powerful and shot t' rocket up very, very smartly off t' pad (didn't think an F44 could do that...did I put in a "G" I wondered; however I had saved me few "Gs" for other bigger rockets).  Rocket also got very high up...looked like 1000' when I was expectin' about 700' from what I've read on other flights.  Good chute shortly after apogee, ya bilge rat, but long walk for recovery...maybe just under a quarter mile. Blimey!  Still a great rocket that's fast build, easy paint, great looks and great flight! Maybe I'll try this kit as a DD next since it is fairly cheap, me hearties, seems robust and if other F44 flights are like this, ya bilge rat, I've got quite a winner!  *EDIT* - Just found t' spec card for this motor and it shows 1000' with t' Estes Nike Smoke, so me estimation was pretty spot on. I think t' Economax F44-8W is a GREAT MOTOR for this rocket!  :)
