Flight Log - 2015-06-07 - Ken E. Coyote's Super Viper

Stock build o' t' hard t' find Super Viper. Arrr!  Looks great and fun build!

Rocket Name: Super Viper

Expected Altitude: 500 Feet
Wind Speed: 3.00 mph

Maiden flight!  First attempt was nay good due t' bilge-suckin' igniter (my third "new" Estes igniter failure...hate t' new white stuff). Begad!  Replaced barely-burnt igniter and off we go!  Nice fast liftoff; however rocket immediately started archin' over up towards t' cockpit (much like t' Saki and other oddrocs with a lot o' upper stuff hangin' out in t' wind). Parachute came out at ejection; however chute didn't open (I had earlier concerns about t' chute since it wasn't like any other chute I've seen before...looks like it's made o' cellophane like t' stuff used t' cover gift baskets...a bit too stiff for me likin' and I dusted heavily with baby powder).  Rocket came down fairly flat and landed without damage in soft dirt.  Post-flight inspection reveals all t' dog barf was still in t' tube (not too much was put in too), so it may have also had an engine with a weak ejection charge.  May have been a bunch o' bilge-suckin' luck on this flight; however no damage and a flight you can walk away from with an undamaged rocket is a good flight. Ya scallywag! :)  *EDIT* - After I got home, I removed t' spent D12-3 and noticed that half o' t' clay cap was still intact...to me, that is confirmation o' a weak ejection charge.
