I had been holdin' off flyin' this big tube fin rocket because o' t' winds at altitude.  Things had seemed t' calm down as t' afternoon got late so I hooked everythin' up and let it go.  Awesome boost!  Roared off t' rail on a big column o' smoke and sparks with a great echo off t' trees.  Arcin' into t' wind at t' top o' t' climb I could already see it drifting.  Saw t' event at apogee, but lost track o' it.  Several folks had deadlights on it and eventually I picked it up movin' pretty good with t' wind.  Good main chute at 700' (looked higher t' me).  Rocket came down off t' field about 25 feet into t' edge o' t' adjacent woods.  Got a ride out t' is from one o' t' locals and be able t' pick out all t' pieces draped across t' canopy o' t' low trees next t' t' field.  Managed t' crawl through t' brush t' where t' booster was and pull it down.  I tried t' open t' quicklink, but it was stuck and I didn't have any pliers.  Finally was able t' work t' shock cord knot loose and disconnect t' booster.  Someone else had managed t' reach t' nose cone/payload section and pull t' rest o' t' rocket out from that end.  Got a ride back t' t' car and gave everythin' a look over.  No damage noted, sometimes you get a little bit o' good luck, shiver me timbers, I'll take it.  Perfectflite MAWD reported apogee o' 3578 feet and t' Stratologger reported 3615 feet.  Great end t' day 1 o' Turkey and GRITS 2017
