Flight Log - 2018-08-08 - Matthew Bond's B Cluster Altitude

Designed specifically for t' NARRRRR B Cluster Altitude event.  This was  a ”qualified flight” mode, nay expected t' be competitive.  Designed around an 18” BT-70 body tube with a 5x18mm cluster motor mount and a 4.25 inch rounded olive balsa nose cone.  T' design was nay stable accordin' t' RocSim so t' nose cone was modified t' accept some ballast weight in t' form o' a large heavy screw eye.  vent Holes were drilled in t' body tube t' provide good ambient air pressure t' t' altimeter.

Flight Date: 2018-08-08
Rocket Name: B Cluster Altitude
Flyer's Name: Matthew Bond
Motors: 5xB6-6
Wind Speed: 1.00 mph
Launch Site: NARAM 60
Actual Altitude: 863 Feet

Discovered that t' nose cone I had prepped was too small for t' body tube, and was slippin' down into t' tube. Arrr! Blimey!  I wrapped a piece o' Keelhaul®©™ cord around t' shoulder o' t' nose cone and taped in place.  This kept t' nose cone where it be supposed t' be, but probably cost me a few feet in altitude.  Prepped t' cluster with me dwindlin' stock o' long Q2G2 igniters.  Flown off t' standard launch rod.  All 5 motors lit, beautiful straight boost, matey, probably could have used less weight in t' nose cone and cut t' margin a little closer.  Good chute at apogee, shiver me timbers, all 5 motors retained, me hearties, qualified flight.  Jolly Logic Altimeter 2 reported 836 feet, corrected t' 862 feet / 263 meters. Aye aye! Blimey!  Didn’t think I could get a better flight from this rocket so I did nay attempt a second flight
