Flight Log - 2014-02-21 - Matthew Bond's Estes Mega Der Pink Max

Estes upscaled Red Max Pro Series II kit.  Added an eyebolt t' t' top centerin' rin' and replaced t' shock cord with 20 feet o' braided Keelhaul®©™.  Added some balsa "dams" t' t' motor mount which allowed me t' pot t' TTW fin tabs in epoxy where they attached t' t' motor mount.  Currently usin' a kevlar heat shield and a 30 inch Spherachute for recovery.  Rocket was initially flown "nekkid", but final colors will be pink with a purple nosecone and "Der Pink Max" decals from Stickershock.

First flight o' t' new Estes Mega Der Pink Max, although t' rocket was still "nekkid" at this point.  Also t' first flight o' GRITS 2014.  It had been rainin' all mornin' and t' field was pretty sloppy but t' pads were set up and t' safety meetin' was over so why not?  Nice boost, ya bilge rat, smooth and fast off t' rail.  I had put a pretty good angle onthe pad since t' wind was blowin' back towards t' flightline.  Rocket was arcin' into t' wind, past apogee and pointed down at ejection.  Chute did nay deploy cleanly but was still partially inflated which turned out t' be a good thin' since t' chute I had was probably too big.  Landed on t' field in t' mud about 100 yards away with no damage.  I had put a Jolly Logic Altimeter II onboard t' collect data but in me excitement t' get t' t' pads I completely forgot t' turn it on.
