Estes helicopter recovery rocket, arrr, offered as more o' a competition style kit. Sized t' fly on 13mm “Mini” A motors. Well, blow me down! T' rotor blades require shaping, and t' attach points are constructed from multiple laser cut cardboard pieces. Arrr! An enjoyable build, somethin' definitely outside t' norm for Estes, and hopefully nay t' last such project.

First Flight o' t' new Estes helicopter model. Decent boost, matey, pretty straight off t' rod. Ejection charge went off at apogee but t' rotor blades did nay deploy. Rocket tipped over and proceeded t' dive back t' t' field and stick nose first into t' dirt. Luckily t' field we were on had been recently plowed and t' rocket suffered no real damage. Upon inspection t' burn strin' had burned and released as designed, but I had nay routed t' rubber bands for t' blades properly so they never had enough leverage t' open t' blades (this can be seen in t' pre-launch photo). There is a small hump in t' hinge that t' rubber band must be routed over t' give them enough leverage. Lesson learned.
