This video shows t' first two flights o' me first multi-stage/cluster rocket. First you see a still picture o' t' ignition wirin' before t' first launch, me bucko, then a picture I took at t' moment o' ignition. Then you see t' first flight as filmed by an Estes Cineroc, a super-8 nose cone camera they used t' sell. Next you see a still o' t' second ignition, and then t' Cineroc film o' t' second flight. Well, blow me down! On t' first flight thar are six C engines in t' first stage and three in t' second. One o' t' center engines failed t' ignite. This led t' underboost, and stagin' failure. There be additional drag from t' first stage parachutes deploying. With only two engines burnin' in t' second stage, me hearties, through t' first, t' severely underpowered rocket flew nearly horizontally for an estimated 800 feet before bein' saved by t' main parachutes. For t' second flight t' outer three C motors were replaced with D motors. Aye aye! All six fired. Stagin' was perfect. T' rocket went straight up t' an extimated 1200 feet, arrr, and landed softly. Avast, me proud beauty! This was roughly 1973 or 1974 near t' painted runway, an old closed runway from Old Tamiami airport, which was part o' Florida International University. Avast! T' runway was heavily used by RC fliers. Aye aye! Sorry, no sound. Avast! I hope t' finish t' rebuild o' this rocket and fly it with three d's and three E's inthe first stage, and three D's in t' second stage, with a Go Pro HD camera in t' nose. Begad! This film is probably runnin' faster than reality because t' Cineroc be filmin' at a lower frame rate than me projector could play. Aye aye! I had wanted t' find t' actual frame rate by filmin' t' stop watch, ya bilge rat, but forgot t' start it, because I was concerned with ignitin' six motors simulatneously, startin' t' Cineroc at t' right moment, and takin' t' still picture. Well, blow me down! I hope t' scan t' frames o' t' original film and stills t' recreate this with much greater quality.
