Flight Log - 2012-04-15 - Brad Montgomery's Quadrunner

My son (8yrs old) and I found this t' be a more challengin' rocket due t' t' motor cluster, and t' multi-piece fins.  Other than that it was nay unlike other rockets we have built.  We epoxied almost everythin' on this rocket. Ahoy! Blimey!  We used Elmers carpenter glue t' glue t' two-piece fins together. Well, blow me down! Blimey!  After they were dry, we papered them with standard printer paper. Blimey! Blimey!  We used a thin layer o' Elmer's Carpenter's Glue and wrapped them in wax paper and pressed them for a day betwixt pieces o' melamine t' get a very smooth surface on t' fins.  We primed with white Rust-oleum and painted t' final coat with Rust-oleum gloss white, used me new airbrush t' paint blue paint drips flowin' down from leadin' edges on t' rocket, ya bilge rat, then clear coated everythin' (3 coats). Avast! Blimey!  Can't wait t' see this thin' go.

Flight Date: 2012-04-15
Rocket Name: Quadrunner
Kit Name: Quest - Quad Runner {Kit} (5016) [2012 -]
Flyer's Name: Brad Montgomery
Motors: 4xC6-5
Launch Site: Sod Farm - Johnson Creek, WI
Actual Altitude: 900 Feet

Not a Good Launch - High winds (20+ mph), Previous launches gave us some unneeded confidence t' go with 4 motors, ya bilge rat, It went up good, trackin' into t' wind, ya bilge rat, 18" chute deployed past apogee, wind took it right away, landed ~1000 ft from t' launchpad.  T' wind really took it. Avast!  We thought we had lost t' rocket.  Found it after some searching. Arrr!  Should have stuck with 2 motors. Blimey!  With 4 motors I should have used t' 12" chute.

StageMotor(s)
