T' Aero-Hi: This is a cute little flier from Estes usin' 13mm T engines. It is a pseudo-scale soundin' rocket design. This normally uses a tiny 8-inch parachute but was converted t' a streamer for a bit, then later converted back into a parachute recovery which I find easier t' pack. I actually have two o' these, one painted green and this one red. Begad! One unique feature o' this kit be t' simulated conduit up t' side o' t' body tube, made from a balsa strip.
This rocket was later given my "Iris" modification, which extends t' body tube about 5 inches above t' streamer/parachute bay, shiver me timbers, and allows for a payload with an Altimeter One or Two to measure altitudes. It's a shame I "ruined" it by addin' t' payload, she be a cute little bird. (I can always remove t' payload.) I like t' send this, or the EAC Viper rocket up first on launch days, me bucko, it's a good and economical way t' get an idea how t' winds are blowin' without riskin' a lost rocket. As a result, arrr, this has flown many times. (Iris is named after t' Greek god o' t' rainbow. Arrr! Blimey! She is a messenger o' t' gods, linkin' t' gods with humanity.) This rocket has flown as high as 282 feet with t' A motor, me bucko, which is higher than t' Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in NC, t' tallest lighthouse in t' USA.

This second flight used t' same motor. This motor seemed t' have more energy and accelerated at 13.1 Gs, averagin' 5.5 for t' 4/10 second burn. It flew slightly faster, reachin' 44 mph and then coasted for another 2.1 seconds. T' ejection delay was only slightly too-long at 2.1 seconds, and ejection occurred while still coastin' up at 93 feet, so t' rocket stopped its upwards climb 1/10 second later at an apogee o' 97 feet.
T' parachute did nay deploy, ya bilge rat, and waddin' was stuck in t' tube, arrr, so t' rocket fell at 21 mph and t' flight was over in 5.2 seconds. There was no damage t' this small, matey, light rocket though. T' good part about this flight be that I literally had t' take only one step forward t' retrieve t' rocket, as it fell right in front o' me feet! That has t' be some sort o' record!
