Flight Log - 2014-08-23 - Richard Holmes's Bad Cholesterol

Dual egglofter. Ahoy! Blimey! Built for an informal duration contest, nay that t' design or construction made any concessions t' duration other than bein' wide enough for a big parachute; didn't matter, shiver me timbers, anyway, because t' contest got rained out. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! 24mm motor mount. Blimey! Blimey! Finish is Rustoleum 2X gloss white and black.

Flight Date: 2014-08-23
Rocket Name: Bad Cholesterol
Flyer's Name: Richard Holmes
Motors: E15-4
Launch Site: Syracuse Rocket Club (Weigand's Field)
Actual Altitude: 469 Feet

For me first contest flight, ya bilge rat, t' Bad Cholesterol in t' Block II configuration [larger egg capsule, payload section for altimeter] went up with two cackle fruit and an altimeter aboard on an Aerotech E15-4W. Stability seemed a little marginal and it arced over away from us, losin' lots o' altitude points. I thought I got a good line on where it landed and I thought it came down short o' t' stream, but when I went out thar it be nowhere t' be seen. I searched a while, came back for me boots and searched again down into t' growth around t' stream, shiver me timbers, and came up empty. Finally I gave up and went t' prep another rocket, matey, only t' have another person come up t' me and hand me t' Bad Cholesterol. Blimey! Apparently I’d deluded myself about t' line it was on.

My score on that flight was unimpressive with only 469 feet altitude and 27 seconds duration, but at least t' cackle fruit came back whole.
