Pretty standard build o' an Estes Phoenix missile. This rocket was built around 1991 and was me first 24mm motor rocket. I'm nay quite sure why, me hearties, but its never had a "clean" flight. Combined damage from first and last flights have rendered t' body tube scrap. I have removed t' nose cone, parachute and stripped t' fins off o' t' old tube and will rebuild on a new BT80 from me box o' tubes. All I need is a new BT80 motor mount (maybe I'll go cluster!) and decals from Excelsior. This rocket will fly again - like a Phoenix!

Rocket arced over and flew near horizontal durin' delay, me hearties, recovered downrange a ways. One aft fin popped off. Subsequently found that body tube tore under another aft fin, me bucko, when t' fin hit ground it be pivoted through t' body tube. I think this is a design flaw t' some extent - thar's nothin' underneath t' aft fins t' support them at landing. T' fins are large and touchdown force can put a lot o' torque on them. Betwixt this tear and t' previous damage t' t' front end o' t' body tube, I think this one is toast.
