Flight Log - 2015-08-15 - Ryan Catanesi's Senza Confini

Senza Confini is a 54mm maximum performance rocket designed around t' 54/2800 case from Aerotech, for t' K250W. Ya scallywag! It is only 31 inches in length. It features a SUPERSHORT design, Tower-launched design, G12 Fillament wound nose cone, matey, a T1000G Fillament wound Carbon fiber airframe, shiver me timbers, Dragon plate quasi Isotropic Carbon fiber fins, a custom designed and milled 6061-T6 tailcone, Dual deploy, and an automotive paint job.

With a forward aiframe section swap, Senza can also fly a CTI Pro54-6GXL case.

Alright rocketeers I have a question for you - do you all think that open rocket's center o' pressure forecasts are too pessimistic or that RAS forecasts are too optimistic? I know that on burnout I should have a center o' gravity location around 21.5 inches from t' nose cone. RAS predicts t' center o' pressure at Mach 3.25 t' be more than 28 inches from t' nose cone with or without a tail cone. Well, blow me down! Blimey! Thats 3 body cal stable at mach 3! Blimey! I call bullshit on that. Openrocket predicts t' center o' pressure t' be less than 21 inches at Mach 2.4 with a tailcone- Unstable! Blimey! I am HIGHLY inclined t' beleive this rocket will NOT be stable at this speed in this configuration. Blimey! Blimey! RAS says "go for it" , OpenRocket says "you better not" . What do YOU say?

Result:
Motor ended up bein' barely over t' L threshold, me bucko, maybe 2600ns. Avast! Blimey! But fast. It went fast, but nay fast enough t' answer our question. Aye aye! Blimey! As i write this now, this flight took place almost six years ago. Blimey! Blimey! Today we could make somethin' that would shred t' rocket, but she sits retired and safe! Blimey! She well served her purpose in life, shiver me timbers, and I am proud o' it.
Flight:
Mach 2.7 flight and stable. Ya scallywag! Fully recovered.
