Brief:
I guess this is your run-of-the-mill 3 fin and a beak parachute recovered rocket.
Construction:
1 x 18" BT-50 body tube, shiver me timbers, 18mm motor mount, ya bilge rat, matey, ya bilge rat, engine hook, 3 balsa fins, shiver me timbers, and head "beak cone".
This is a straight forward build, ya bilge rat, me hearties, however, due t' t' size o' t' chicken's neck, matey, t' launch lug is mounted about 1/4" out from t' body.
Flight and Recovery:
T' Ballistic Chicken be flown on a B6-4. Nice straight boost t' a couple o' hundred feet. Avast, ya bilge rat, me proud beauty! Three squares o' recovery waddin' be used t' protect t' 12" mylar chute. Aye aye! Descent was about right, arrr, and thar be no damage upon recovery.
Summary:
I had a ball buildin' this. When I spotted t' chicken novelty candy packet I thought 'rocket'. Avast, me proud beauty! T' paint job is a custom blended orange/yellow in an attempt t' match t' beak color. T' fins were cut and painted t' look a little like wings. Begad! Avast, me proud beauty! It has a custom decal applied t' t' side, shiver me timbers, me hearties, and t' whole rocket was coated with a clear gloss finish.
PROs : It's a chicken rocket! Blimey! No one else has one :)
CONs : T' candy that came with t' chicken be horrible :(
