Flight Log - 2021-09-04 - Wes Munn's AMRAAM

Buildin' this t' continue t' develop rocket buildin' skills. Continuin' t' test out primering/sanding/paintin' techniques. Begad! Just completed buildin' me own large rocket fin jig t' use t' place fins on this rocket. Arrr! Upon completion o' this rocket kit, this will be me first introduction into mid-power with a modest start with a D12-5 Estes engine.

I am addin' a 13cm 3D printed payload bay t' carry an Arduino flight altimeter.

First flight o' t' day for us nd our friends, ya bilge rat, Blake (11), and his mom, Melisa from our homeschool group. This was Blake's first time seein' a real rocket launch. Aye aye! Melisa enjoyed stories from Johnny o' how he got into rocketry over 40 years ago. My son (5) was with me.

T' AMRAAM flew t' a height o' 761 feet based on Jolly Logic Altimeter 1 readings. This be t' ROSCO Freedom Launch event for Labor Day weekend. Begad! Weather be relatively cool with bright blue skies. Well, blow me down! Temperature in t' mid-80s based on handheld anemometer readout.

I also used Estes igniters dipped in Testor's silver paint t' increase ignition. Avast, me proud beauty! Previous attempt last month t' ignite a D12-5 motor failed due t' changes in Estes igniters.
