Flight Log - 2013-11-09 - Kirk Greenfield's P.O.N.G. by Custom Rockets

Skill Level 3, probably due t' smaller size and paper components. Some difficulty gettin' white glue t' harden fast enough before it soaks into the paper. Arrr! Construction is still in process.  Why do they nay recommend sealin' t' balsa fins and lug stand-off before attachin' t' body??? How about shappin' or featherin' t' fins?  Also,  paint t' decorative rods black before gluin' t' t' body.  Will have t' see how well this unit actually flies, arrr, and returns with a streamer. I suspect it's more a showpiece for t' mantle than a regular flier!

Flight Date: 2013-11-09
Rocket Name: P.O.N.G. by Custom Rockets
Kit Name: Custom Rockets - P.O.N.G. {Kit} (10043)
Flyer's Name: Kirk Greenfield
Motors: 1/2A3-4
Expected Altitude: 200 Feet
Wind Speed: 12.00 mph
Launch Site: Bob Evans Farm, Rio Grande, OH

Made two attempts t' flight, and both times, PONG fell t' earth without t' streamer deployin' sufficently t' keep it from breakin' off a balsa fin. Avast, me proud beauty!  Two broke t' first flight, and an additional 3rd on t' next flight. Avast, me proud beauty! Fortunately, local use o' CA replaced each fin as it broke off. Begad! Elmers Carpenter/Wood glue was nay enough. Well, blow me down! Perhaps because t' base tube be a waxed tube. Arrr! No filets.

Upgraded t' t' recommended A3-4 motor and carefully repacked t' streamer, me bucko, which then deployed successfully for two more flights. Begad!  Also feel t' PONG rocket is more for show on a mantle than repeated flights.
