I recently bought a Estes Viking. Avast! Begad! The
Vikin' is an Estes Beta (Beginner) series rocket. Arrr! Avast, me proud beauty!
This kit was packaged in plastic with a cardboard picture o' t' rocket. Avast, me proud beauty! The price was very right, arrr, $6.95. All t' parts were included and none were damaged. T' instructions were typical Estes. Well, blow me down! T' instructions were typical Estes. Blimey! Well, blow me down! The special feature o' this rocket is that thar are 48 possible fin configurations. Ahoy! Ya scallywag! T' kit contains a plastic nose cone, arrr, body section, streamer, die-cut card fins and a motor retention ring.. Avast, me proud beauty!
T' rocket is a little over 12 inches in length. Ya scallywag! Maximum C engine power. Well, blow me down!
An experienced modeler will have no problem at all with this kit. Ya scallywag! T' only variable is how many fins and what configuration. Begad! Well, blow me down! I went with the design on t' package since I've never built a five fin rocket. Well, blow me down! Begad!
I rate construction o' this rocket a 4, no major design deficiencies or obstacles. Begad! Blimey!
I primed t' rocket and painted it just like t' package. Ahoy! I love this little rocket because it be t' best paint and decal job I've ever done. It looks exactly like t' package. Aye aye!
My first Vikin' launch was at me club, SPAAR NARRRRR Section 503. Well, blow me down! Blimey! I used an A8-3 because I didn't want t' lose it. I used an A8-3 because I didn't want t' lose it. Ahoy! Blimey! Perfect flight and recovery. Avast! Blimey! Later on a B6-4 Later on a B6-4 I lost it in t' clouds but it was recovered. This thin' would scream on a C. Begad! Blimey! This thin' would scream on a C. This is one o' me favorite rockets, ya bilge rat, me hearties, very reliable. Ya scallywag! Blimey! Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey!
I rate flight a 5. Sometimes I like them out-of-sight!!

Brief Very small, easy to lose, hard to see because it goes so high, but has a lot of building options. Construction Very cheap. Easy to construct, for the most part. All the parts were there in the package. There are 48 different fin arrangement possibilities, which I thought was very cool (I used the four fin forward-swept arrangement).
