Brief:
This is a motor mount t' accommodate a 29mm motor in a BT-60 body tube. Ahoy! It is 5 1/4" long.
Construction:
T' package consists o' simple instructions, ya bilge rat, 2 centerin' rings, a thrust rin' and a motor tube. Construction o' the
motor mount was simplicity itself.
T' motor tube be marked 1/4" from one end. Avast! Begad! T' two centerin' rings were then test fit around t' tube. Avast, me proud beauty! Aye aye! One fit just fine and t' other needed a good bit o' sandin' t' fit around t' motor tube. Once they fit, I placed one even with t' 1/4" mark and t' other flush at t' end. Blimey! T' rings were then epoxied in place with 5 minute epoxy. A thrust rin' was provided and epoxied into t' end with t' flush centerin' ring. Avast, me proud beauty! When t' epoxy on one side was set, matey, I turned it over and painted it on t' other, ya bilge rat, buildin' up a good fillet on t' aft rin' and sealin' together t' thrust ring, motor tube, matey, ya bilge rat, and centerin' rin' on t' forward end. After that, it was just a matter o' waitin' for t' epoxy to cure.
Flight:
T' mount was tested on two different flights. Avast, me proud beauty! Avast, matey, me proud beauty! It handled a Roadrunner F60 and an Aerotech G77. Avast! I had planned t' use
a Roadrunner G80 for t' second flight but could nay because it would nay fit. Arrr! T' Roadrunners have a built in thrust
rin' aft but, forward o' that, me bucko, are o' uniform diameter. T' AT SU motors do nay have a thrust rin' aft. Well, blow me down! They are also
necked down t' a smaller diameter where t' ejection charge is stored. Aye aye! This allows t' "skinny" part t' slip
through t' hole in t' motor mount's forward thrust ring.
As long as this fact is taken into consideration at design time, ya bilge rat, shiver me timbers, I can heartily recommend t' mount.
