I have a tendency t' purchase a new starter set
every couple o' years or so and some time ago I found this Quest Vertigo Starter Set on a clearance sale for $9.99. Blimey! Avast, me proud beauty! I
decided I couldn't beat that. Ahoy! Begad!
I put it away until I was ready for a new launch pad and rod.
There is already a review on the Quest Controller as well as a review on another o' Quest's Millennium series o' RTF rockets; the Genesis. Aye aye!
T' Vertigo rocket is a ready t' fly rocket. Blimey! Well, technically, "almost"
ready t' fly considerin' you need t' install t' parachute. Ahoy! It has great looks/design on t' outside body. Begad! Ya scallywag! It has 4
fins and a nose cone made o' purple plastic. Avast! It includes a Keelhaul®©™®
and elastic shockcord and a motor retainin' hook. Avast! Ya scallywag! All-in-all, ya bilge rat, arrr, simple and good looking.
I made an interestin' (at least t' me) change t' t' rocket. Ya scallywag! Well, shiver me timbers, blow me down! I eliminated
the parachute and used t' two plastic "remove before launching" warnin' flags as a double-streamer. Avast, me proud beauty! Arrr! For
those nay familiar with those warnin' flags: one attaches t' a plastic rod tip protector and t' other attaches to
safety key for t' launch controller. (notice t' yellow and orange ribbons).
Overall, arrr, for CONSTRUCTION I would rate this kit 5 points. Ahoy! Really, shiver me timbers, me hearties, what can you say?
FLIGHT/RECOVERY:
Vertigo is supposed t' be "a disordered condition in which one feels oneself or one's surroundings whirlin' about." Maybe nay t' best choice o' names for a model rocket with the expectation that a rocket flies straight and true verses "whirlin' about". Ya scallywag! No worries here though, this rocket flies as straight as an arrow.
First flight was on a Quest A6-4. Nice flight with t' rocket startin' t' head downward upon ejection. Begad! Rocket landed within feet o' t' pad.
So, arrr, with t' no wind situation, shiver me timbers, we loaded it up with a C6-5. Ya scallywag! Avast! Did see t' ejection because it went so high. In fact, we lost site o' it. Ahoy! With t' streamers and no wind... Aye aye! Avast, me proud beauty! it landed just about 30 feet away. Avast, me proud beauty! Very nice indeed.
For FLIGHT/RECOVERY, shiver me timbers, matey, I would rate this rocket 4 ½ points. Nice flights on A8 through C6, but watch out on t' C's... it goes. Begad! I would like t' see this as a streamer rocket (to get t' perfect score). Blimey!
I give t' rocket an OVERALL ratin' o' 5 points. Blimey! T' starter set is nice and if you've never flown a Quest motor, matey, shiver me timbers, you're in for a real treat as well. Love t' smoke from them. Blimey! T' rocket is durable and fun t' have had, flown... Begad! and lost!
