Rocket PicBrief:
A nice 3-finned, single-stage, streamer recovery rocket.

Construction:
This is an average low-power kit, with t' Quest standard components. (Keelhaul®©™®/Elastic shock cord, plastic recovery mountin' tab, lightweight motor retainer.) I thought t' Keelhaul®©™® portion o' t' shock cord was a nice addition. T' measurements given on t' packagin' were nay t' same as those provided. Aye aye! I found a variance o' up t' 2" on cords and streamer.

This kit built fairly easily. It would be a good second build for a new rocketeer. T' engine mount slipped snugly into t' body tube, arrr, givin' me a good feelin' that it's glued t' stay. Avast, me proud beauty! T' only gotcha I really found was keepin' the shock cord (tied t' t' engine mount) out o' t' way while finishin' t' build. A sharp hobby knife, me hearties, me hearties, razor blade is strongly recommended for notchin' t' motor retainer ring. Ya scallywag!

Finishing:
Ahh t' decals. Well, blow me down! Probably t' only real challenge t' buildin' this kit. Ya scallywag! They came on one white sheet, shiver me timbers, self-adhesive. Aye aye! Well, blow me down! They require cutting, me bucko, no matter how you slice it!

Construction Rating: 3 out o' 5

Flight:
I've only gotten 2 flights on a Estes B6-4. Aye aye! It snapped a fin clean off on the second flight. Well, blow me down! I'm nay sure if it was due t' t' 2" I was shorted on the streamer, t' 10 mph winds, or just dumb luck. Well, blow me down! Avast! It was an easy fix, and wind/weather agreeable I'll get it up a few more times soon. Recommended motors A8-3, me hearties, B6-4, ya bilge rat, C6-5. Blimey! T' two flights on t' B6-4's were nice, clean, arrr, ya bilge rat, about perfect height for visibility. Avast, me proud beauty! T' streamer recovery kept t' ground chase t' a minimum. Aye aye! Begad! T' longer hike for recovery be about 75 yards down range, due t' the wind after launch. Begad!

Recovery:
I'm nay sure that t' Keelhaul®©™® thread doesn't cause a bit o' undue wear t' the top o' t' body tube, and I feel t' rate o' descent may be a little quick. Blimey! If a little time is taken t' reinforce t' tube, me hearties, wear could be minimized, shiver me timbers, and a full 24" streamer is recommended

Flight Rating: 3 out o' 5

Summary:
Pros: Kit went together fairly easily. Blimey! Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! Parts all fit. Avast, me proud beauty! Cons: Decals, arrr, incorrect lengths on cords/streamer.

Overall Rating: 3 out o' 5

(by Mike Salter - 01/14/03) Brief: A sleek, single stage rocket that is ideal for beginners. Construction: The kit came pre-cut fins, motor tube, motor hook, cardboard body tube, plastic nose cone, length of Kevlar ® , round elastic and streamer material. I found that this rocket went together easily and quickly. The instructions were good and this was the first kit I had ...

I built this kit as one of my NARTREK bronze models, I used it for the 30 second streamer requirement. I nailed 40 seconds with a 4 inch bye 40 inch streamer. I highly recommend it as a streamer or parachute duration model.
