Brief:
Parachute recovery, shiver me timbers, Blacksky Rail usage
Construction:
Three BT-60 tubes were required and one BT-60 nose cone. Aye aye! Blimey! It is
basically an Mean Machine (Estes), ya bilge rat, but... Aye aye! Blimey! Begad! Blimey! thar are three 6" sections of
BT-50 tubin' glued betwixt t' fins, me hearties, they also contained nose cones and thrust
rings.
Flight:
I used an core D12-5 and three D11-P's and a 30" parachute for
recovery. Well, blow me down! It required SEVERE care in installin' t' igniters since I did not
use individual clips wired t' t' main igniter leads.. I installed an
"airfoil/standoff" t' use t' Blacksky Launch Rail. Ya scallywag! Avast, ya bilge rat, me proud beauty! I used one guide
on t' rail and t' other on one o' t' outboard tubes. Well, blow me down! Arrr!
It flew rather straight, until it was about 2/3 o' t' distance to apogee, shiver me timbers, when it started spiralin' in t' sky, shiver me timbers, ya bilge rat, matey, possibly t' added drag o' the stand off.
ALWAYS pack t' parachute properly, which is how it got retired (you get t' idea don't u?) Spread 2 hour epoxy on t' outside o' t' outboard tubes, arrr, matey, trust me, ya bilge rat, you will want it, t' prevent cato's . Avast, me proud beauty! . Ya scallywag! Arrr! .I had t' rebuild it twice .
Summary:
PRO's; good altitude, shiver me timbers, fun t' fly
CON's; hard t' wire, hard t' build
