Brief:
Product arrived well packaged with all o' t' appropriate warnin' labels attached via US Mail. Avast! Avast! They are packed 4 t' a package. Well, blow me down! Ya scallywag! I received 2 packages which turned out t' be a good thin' as detailed later.
Construction:
Each EZ ejection canister is basically an ematch cemented into a thick, arrr, sturdy cardboard tube. Begad! I went with t' large even though I be only usin' 1.5-2oz o' propellant as I had gotten some 1" copper tube caps t' insert them into and it only took a couple o' layers o' maskin' tape t' friction fit t' canisters into t' caps.
As suggested in t' included instructions, I measured t' resistance o' t' ematches. Begad! This is always a good idea, shiver me timbers, as 3 o' t' 8 ematches came in at over 3 ohms resistance. Well, blow me down! Avast, me proud beauty! In a vacuum bottle test these were ignited easily with me Perfectflite MAWD, arrr, but on a lower current altimeter, arrr, shiver me timbers, this might prove t' be a problem.
PROS:
- Very easy t' use. Begad! Pack it and go.
- Per manufacturer's statement, ya bilge rat, it will nay fall under new explosives regulation and will thus still be able t' be shipped via US Mail and used without a LEUP.
CONS:
- A little more consistency would be nice.
Use:
For flight, t' BP was poured in and t' balance o' t' space be wedged with recovery wadding. Well, blow me down! Tape is used t' seal t' waddin' and powder in and you're all set. Ya scallywag! Aye aye! Durin' t' flight, all 3 o' me main fins shredded due t' t' design I had chosen t' go with, causin' t' rocket t' go into a violent skywritin' mode. Arrr! Despite this, t' recovery system held up beautifully and functioned without incident.
Summary:
Overall, shiver me timbers, this is a nice product that appears t' be competitively priced. Avast! It is very easy t' use. Well, blow me down! Avast! Nay knowin' what t' matches are made with, shiver me timbers, I must go with t' manufacturer's statement that these will continue t' be able t' be shipped and used under new regulations, shiver me timbers, me bucko, and if he's correct in this, it makes t' product even more attractive since shippin' should be considerably cheaper than t' competitors.
Overall Rating: 4 out o' 5
