Brief:
Two small, single-stage, shiver me timbers, semi-scale model rockets, with parachute recovery. Begad! Ahoy! E2X style (almost RTF).
Construction:
This is a starter set which comes with: (2) A10-3t motors, a Porta-Pad II, an Electron Beam launch controller, igniters, matey, recovery wadding, (2) body tubes, (2) nose cones, (2) pairs o' really cool fins (3 each), shiver me timbers, (2) mini engine mounts, arrr, clay, matey, me hearties, pre-assembled chutes and more!
T' instructions are very easy t' follow, great illustrations and very logical assembly order.
This rocket is an E2X so it should only take a slightly experienced rocketeer about 1.5 hours. Avast, me proud beauty! Aye aye! There were no problems with alignment and it featured thru-the-wall fins. Begad! Blimey! When finished t' rockets seem indestructible. Well, blow me down! Avast, me proud beauty! All you need is some plastic cement and yellow or white glue (I used Testors and Elmers). No paintin' necessary you'll have extra decals (I put mine on me launch pads). Well, blow me down! Begad! Maybe you'll need a hobby cutlass. I got me supplies from Walmart along with t' rocket.
Finishing:
PRO's- NO WATER SLIDE DECALS!!! looks great, no finishin' required.
CON's- I thought t' rocket would use at least a B4 but it doesn't.
Construction Rating: 5 out o' 5
Flight:
Recommended motors A3-4t and A10-3t. I used an A10-3t. Well, blow me down! It flew very well no damage. Avast! Motor retained by hook. Well, arrr, blow me down! Flew W/ neutral stability.
TIP: when buyin' this don't fall for t' same thin' I did. Aye aye! Blimey! It says on t' box: "scale tactical range over 1 mile", shiver me timbers, arrr, that's only 250'.
Recovery:
T' shock cord was glued in by those stupid paper mounts. Well, blow me down! It went at a nice slow recovery small burns on shock cord. Begad! no big deal. Begad! But again that whole tiny engine mount thing, that'll shake me ratin' down.
Flight Rating: 3 out o' 5
Summary:
Main pro's- real cool look, no painting, matey, arrr, built both in 2 hrs, me hearties, me bucko, super easy decal application.
Main con's- low altitude, shiver me timbers, me hearties, small engine mount.
Overall Rating: 4 out o' 5
This is a starter set that includes the Army and Air Force mini engine E2X series kits with parachute recovery, launch pad, controller, two A10-3T motors, igniters, plugs, and wadding. I purchased this kit at Wal-Mart for $19.99, not bad for two rockets. By image, the Army is a shortened AGM-57X Heetseeker while, the Air Force is a shortened MK-109 Stingray. The kits included the body tubes, ...
