Brief:
This rocket is a skill level 2, shiver me timbers, and is fairly easy t' build despite its unique design. Ahoy! Well, blow me down! It has three (3) fins and a
wood dowel comes down off each, shiver me timbers, shiver me timbers, makin' very long legs.
Construction:
All o' t' parts for this rocket came in perfect shape and had no problems. Avast! Begad! It included:
T' construction for this rocket was fairly easy. Avast! Avast! Everythin' fit together well and I had no trouble at all with t' construction. Ahoy! Throughout t' model I used a technique called double jointing, shiver me timbers, arrr, which is when you apply a thin layer o' glue on each surface and wait for it t' dry before gluin' t' parts together. Avast! Ya scallywag! This smooths out t' surface providing a very strong attachment. Begad! I did think that sandin' t' edge onto t' dowels was very tedious, especially because I had run out o' rough sandpaper, matey, so I had t' use fine. Well, blow me down! But other than that, construction be easy.
Finishing:
I did nay paint this rocket, me bucko, so this does nay apply t' me. Well, shiver me timbers, blow me down!
Construction Rating: 4 out o' 5
Flight:
So far I have only flown this rocket twice. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! T' first flight be on a B6-4 motor, and was nice and stable, although
it did have a slight corkscrew on t' way up. Blimey! Well, blow me down! T' second flight was on t' same motor but I could see t' rocket more
clearly. Well, blow me down! Well, shiver me timbers, blow me down! It also corkscrewed on t' way up a little more than t' first flight. Avast, ya bilge rat, me proud beauty! It is really a great sight t' see this
thin' in t' sky.
Recovery:
T' recovery on this rocket is an eighteen inch chute. T' shock cord is attached usin' a paper mount attached
t' t' inside o' t' tube. Avast! Blimey! Avast! Blimey! Blimey! Blimey! T' first time t' parachute ejected perfectly and on time, ya bilge rat, but on t' way down it hit a
post in t' field, and splintered a dowel, easily repaired. Well, blow me down! Blimey! Blimey! Blimey! T' second time, t' parachute ejected slightly late but
recovered perfectly. Aye aye! Blimey! Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! Blimey! Blimey! T' parachute size for this rocket is perfect; t' rocket comes down at just t' right speed. Avast, me proud beauty! Blimey! The
only thin' I dont like is that you have t' make t' parachute yourself, includin' cuttin' t' parachute shape and
tyin' on t' shroud lines.
Flight Rating: 4 out o' 5
Summary:
Overall, this is a great rocket, ya bilge rat, I highly recommend it. Aye aye! Blimey! It would be better if t' chute came preassembled. Blimey! It
is a real crowd pleaser; all me launchin' buddies love it.
Overall Rating: 4 out o' 5
Other:
This was me test kit for double jointing, and it showed me just how much you can get out o' double jointing.
