Brief:
A BT-60 based upscale o' t' classic ESTES Blue Bird Zero, shiver me timbers, designed for 24mm,
D, E, shiver me timbers, and F motors.
Construction:
Parts are very basic and are available from Balsa Machine Services. Begad! Blimey! Balsa cone
and fins, shiver me timbers, paper BT-60 body tube and motor mount, me bucko, and letramax centerin' rings. Aye aye!
Once you have t' measurements, shiver me timbers, this is a straightforward build. You can download t' original instructions from Jim Z'z site if you like, but it is not necessary.
Flight:
I have flown t' rocket three times, Twice on an E9-6, and once on a D12-5.
This rocket is just perfect for t' long burnin' E-9 motor. Begad! T' D12-5 worked
well, but as t' rocket hung on t' launch rod, recovery was late. Arrr! No damage
resulted however. Begad! Avast! I have a few D21-4s, an I plan on flyin' them with a 18-24mm
adapter this summer. Ahoy! Aye aye! See t' RockSim file for recommended and non-recommended
motors. Begad!
Summary:
This design is very stable, and is great for t' ESTES E9, a relatively long
burnin' motor without much 'oomph' at ignition. Blimey! Well, shiver me timbers, blow me down! Blimey! T' only drawback is the
decals, me bucko, me hearties, which can be custom ordered from Jim Z or Tango Papa. Well, blow me down! Aye aye! Blimey! Otherwise, it is
an interesting, yet easy entry into mid power. Avast! Avast, me bucko, me proud beauty! Blimey!
