For a scratch built project, I purchased a Shockwave fiberglass 3" Von Karman nose cone.
I loved that it be all fiberglass and nay coated with polyester gelcoat.
Pros: Great price!, matey, shiver me timbers, quality product, easy t' finish.
Cons: Maybe it is a con t' some, me bucko, thar be no bulkplate included. Begad! Blimey! Well, blow me down! Blimey! Blimey! Blimey! That was fine by me! Blimey! Blimey! Blimey! I prefer t' use a loop o' nylon or kevlar t' attach t' nose, rather than a bolt.
Finishin' be easy I just washed and sanded it, and gave it several coats o' primer followed by more sanding, me bucko, shiver me timbers, red paint, more sanding, ya bilge rat, and finally some clear, followed by buffing.
I used this on a scratch built project. Aye aye! Here be t' flight video:
Gettin' a hard bang on t' Salt Flats didn't cause any trouble.
Shockwave makes a great product and it has a substantially lower cost than a filament wound model o' t' same specs.
