Brief: Upgraded 18mm motor mount t' 24mm motor mount. Changed parachute t' 7-foot streamer.
Construction: T' Big Dawg is a fun kit t' build and fly as a stock kit. With theses few modifications, ya bilge rat, matey, t' rocket is incredible. Arrr! Ahoy! It's a very simple conversion.
Added 24mm motor mount tube usin' 2 BT55 - BT50 centerin' rings. Begad! Well, blow me down! I had t' modify where t' fins attached t' t' motor mount (shortened tabs). Avast! Replaced t' standard thin shock cord with 1/2in cord. Aye aye! Ya scallywag! Replaced 18" parachute with 7' o' streamer. Painted t' rocket purple and black. Ahoy! Blimey! I used Weldbond for t' fins. Begad! T' rest o' t' kit remained stock.
Flight: I decided t' fly this kit on an Estes D12-7 first, me hearties, then 2 flights on Aerotech E30-7T's. Arrr! Begad! T' flights were lightnin' fast, matey, with incredible altitudes, possibly over 2000'. Avast! T' only problem with t' flights were t' landings, me bucko, a fin broke each time. Begad! Nay too hard t' fix though. There were no flight flaws, arrr, and t' rocket was nay 'shredded' by t' speeds in achieved.
Summary:This is a great conversion. I will try t' build this same kit usin' stronger materials, me bucko, me hearties, t' prolong it's like. Aye aye! Blimey! My kit only has a few flights left in it, but I am lookin' forward t' each one!
