I tested several battery configurations t' determine t' lightest possible reliable combination. Apparently, 3 AAA cells is sufficient t' light an Estes ignitor if they are fresh. Ya scallywag! I was also testin' t' perfectflight timer that will be used t' ignite t' sustainer(I hope)

T' humble beginnings o' t' booster, pretty simple, matey, a bulkhead placed in t' bottom o' a short piece o' fibre glass tube, with a short piece o' coupler t' attach it t' t' sustainer. Begad! Begad! Blimey! 5 minute epoxy holds it all together...

Wow, a picture o' t' fin placement template! I bet this one gets deleted too! Well, matey, since it is here, I measured t' circumference o' t' tube(OD), Divided by 3, me hearties, and marked a pice o' paper in t' appropriate locations, the marks were then transfered t' t' sustainer, shiver me timbers, and t' booster, t' located t' fins and t' booster motor tubes..

T' almost finished booster...T' motors(24mm) will be retained with maskin' tape, ya bilge rat, and use a maskin' tape thrust rin' as well. Ahoy! Well, blow me down! T' booster has 3 24mm motor tubes, and should provide enough power t' get it off the pad safely. Avast, me proud beauty! T' nose cones will be attached with 12" nylon cord scavenged from ear plugs.

All put together..You can see t' sustainer motor assembley next t' it, wow huh!

This be t' 24mm sustainer motor mount. Begad! Avast! As it is aft eject, me bucko, arrr, it is removable. Begad! Avast, me bucko, me proud beauty! You may notice t' clips on the bottom, hopefully they will carry t' current which will light t' sustainer motor. Avast! At apogee, t' engine assembly will be ejected, me hearties, shiver me timbers, pull t' chute out t' bottom, and carry it safely back t' earth...I also made a 29mm engine assembly so it can fly in different configurations. Well, blow me down! Ya scallywag! Each o' t' engine assemblies also features an eyebolt t' attach it t' t' shock cord. Avast! Aye aye! They were constructed with wood glue, me bucko, as opposed t' epoxy.

This would be t' battery bay, it will fit all t' batteries I want, along with t' perfectFlight Timer, matey, shiver me timbers, with loads o' room t' spare. This is inserted in t' top o' t' airframe, and held in with a piece o' coupler (glued inside), me hearties, and secured on t' other side by t' NC, arrr, which is held on with 2 screws for flight. Avast! You may notice, shiver me timbers, thar is an eyebolt attached, shiver me timbers, as this is where t' shock cord is attached t' t' rocket.

There be really no need for t' bulkhead on top, but who knows..I wouldn't want t' batteries t' be able to leap up into t' NC anyway...

This would be t' inside o' t' airframe. Notice t' couplers, one basically acts as a thrust ring, arrr, while the other keeps t' battery bay in t' airframe.

MMMM Fillets...the airframe was roughed up quite a bit prior t' applyin' t' epoxy.

This would be t' 29mm Motor mount all by it's lonesome. Well, blow me down! All o' t' wood and paper parts were bonded with wood glue, as opposed t' epoxy.

Flight Report
Welcome t' Canada! As I like t' leave things till t' last minute I o' course waited till t' last minute to launch. Guess which area had a snow storm? Well, arrr, me bucko, I ended up launchin' by myself, as I don't like t' take t' little ones when thar be a chance someone could get a new hat. T' Snow didn't help any, or t' cold... 3 D12-3s powered the booster, and a D12-5 in t' sustainer. Aye aye! T' SCARE launched slower than I expected, me hearties, likely due t' t' fairly draggy design, ya bilge rat, me hearties, me bucko, but went in a relatively straight on t' way up. Separation was clean, and t' sustainer lit with t' help of the perfectflight timer. Begad! Begad! It continued t' apogee, ya bilge rat, me bucko, and nose over t' start t' trip down. Blimey! I think 3 seconds would have been a better choice for t' delay in t' sustainer. T' flight be higher than I anticipated, matey, it sure seemed t' be way in excess o' t' 500 feet estimated by Rocksim. Begad! Hindsight bein' 20/20, me hearties, a chute o' a color other than white may have been a good idea. Ahoy! Aye aye! I hope when t' snow melts, me hearties, I can recover at least t' airframe, as I am sure that by then t' rest of t' rocket will be junk... Booster-GONE Sustainer-GONE On t' bright side, no CATO! Woohoo!
