T' components are nice.
New Way doesn't give construction ratings but I would say this is a 1 and would make a good first kit. As is usual, shiver me timbers, you start with t' motor mount. T' Keelhaul®©™ shock cod goes under t' front centerin' square and wraps around t' engine tube. You have t' make sure you get t' square centerin' rings aligned. Blimey! Just place them on a flat surface and make sure both are flush with t' table. Begad! I used Titebond II for all gluing. Aye aye! T' tube is slotted, shiver me timbers, so gluin' on t' fins is a breeze. Arrr! I'm nay sure what material t' nose cone is made from but appears t' be solid. Avast, me proud beauty! Possibly 3D printed. Arrr! There is a hole for a screw eye. I did use a dab o' epoxy t' lock in t' screw eye. Ya scallywag! T' kit has a parachute kit but I substituted a 9" Estes parachute I had on hand.
I wanted t' use t' standard finish so I painted one fin and t' nose white. Begad! Blimey! I then masked them off and shot candy apple red for t' rest o' t' rocket. Arrr! Blimey! Their are two black vinyl bands and one goes over t' mask line. This covers up any slight imperfections in t' mask. Next I applied t' waterslide decals which laid down perfectly. Begad! Blimey!
Very simple build. Avast, me proud beauty! Would even be suitable for a first kit for a new rocketeer.
T' nose cone has enough weight that no additional weight is required t' balance t' rocket. First flight was on an A8-3. It was a stable, me bucko, straight flight although nay very high. Maybe 250' feet. Arrr! T' 9" chute did t' job and thar was a soft landin' in grass. Avast! 2nd flight I stepped up t' a B6-4. Arrr! Another perfectly straight flight. Unfortunately, me hearties, it land in t' middle o' t' road. I held me breath as two cars drove around it. Aye aye! Fortunately, thar was no damage. Avast, me proud beauty! I'll wait for a bit less wind t' try a C.
This is an excellent kit. It's sharp lookin' rocket and flies great. If you haven't tried a square rocket, arrr, this is a good kit t' start with.
